About Anna

Hi, my name is Anna and I am many things. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend.  I am a wannabe surfer, animal lover and cheese fanatic. I love autumn, black and white photography and a mid-afternoon snooze.  I am also a Type 1 diabetic (insulin dependent, juvenile onset, the beast has many names). I have had diabetes since I was 4 years old, diagnosed back in 1986 while I was living in Germany.  I have been through every stage there is: I was the child who didn't understand it, the teenager who fought against it and have finally become the adult who embraced it. I moved back to the UK with my family in 1989 and have been living on the South Coast of England (I spontaneously cease to exist if I move more than 5 miles from the ocean) ever since.
In January 2010 I started using an insulin pump and have never looked back.  Since that time I have had taken part in market research, have had the opportunity to meet and work with bloggers from across the globe, diabetes advocates, charities and pharma companies dedicated to first-class engagement with the communities they serve. I want my voice to be heard and to shape the future of life with diabetes.

I now use Continuous Glucose Monitoring, an insulin pump, low GI and a catalogue of swear words to manage my diabetes and am married to a wonderful man and have a career  as an investigator: think Kojak minus the lollipop and with a bunch more hair! I hope to go travelling to New Zealand in the next year, and hope that babies are hovering on the horizon (in a non-teleportation kind of way)...
So have a read, look around and get in contact if you want to touch base.

Random fact about me: I once appeared as an extra in a BBC1 TV drama.  I invited friends and family over to see it only to discover only my torso and side of my face in the distance were visible for around six whole, fame-grabbing seconds.  The TV series failed, wrapped and was never heard of again...
